de Sittard Condors baseball & softball club re-branding

Sports club re-branding
de Sittard Condors

For de (the) Sittard Condors I'm working on the (completely) new corporate identity. Although we are re-branding the club, it still is important to maintain the recognizability of the teams and the club. So we definitely wanted to keep the colors "navy blue - light blue ( - white)", as this combination is quite unique in the region as well.

For the sports club, a wide variaty of logos and designs is needed for all of the different applications and advertising purposes. You can think of things like team clothing including jerseys and baseball caps, digital (online) marketing and future promotional gifts like stickers, pins and badges.

Since the club is called the 'Condors' I definitely wanted to incorporate the bird into some of the designs. As a vulture is generally not considered to be very beautiful, I made an effort to singling out the most identifiable features of the bird and to give it some character.
I chose the vulture to be a 'California condor', being the best looking (or the least ugly) of the condor species and then continued this Californian style into the rest of the designs.
The basic two-letter iconic/logotype logo.
The main (jersey) logo
The wordmark 'Condors' incorporated in the condor mascot design. I actually started with the entire bird design, so I was then able to use various elements of it in following (logo) designs.
The design features the California condor, the wordmark and a baseball bat. If you look closely, the contrasting inner feathers stylistically express 'raised victory arms'.
Logo variants incorporating the condor mascot design
The condor mascot head to use, for example, on baseball caps or to work into a badge/patch design.
At the neck I used the contrasting light blue to abstractly show the top of a closed baseball jersey.
This final design shows a two-letter variant, including some 'classic' detailing in the letters. I wasn't shure if I wanted to even keep the design, as it doesn't really fit the rest of the designs. However I ended up presenting it to the board, to show to different directions you can go with the designs.
I decided to keep the design (for now), as there was a positive response to it. it might be applicable for things like the year book cover.
