I made these illustration for the Bologna Children's Bookfair, 2016. The base and the inspiration was Markus Zusak's novel, the Bookthief. I was thrilled by the idea that this story shows us a really special point of view  ( through children's eyes) about such a tough topic as Holocaust and WW2.

 

The illustrations were made with black pencil and ink and a little digital afterwork. The scenes I chose are not especially about the horror of the war with guns and bombs but the matter of living beside the war with a child's dreams and pure heart.
