I'd taken over social media for an e-commerce site that specializes in books. The previous social team regularly posted image quotes about books, so for consistency we felt we should continue sharing quotes. However, one of my goals was to drive more traffic to the blog. So I decided to make some images for social sharing that focused not only on the joy of reading, but rather on quotes from the authors featured on the blog.

 

Each month followed a different editorial theme; in this sample the theme was "Business books". The following is an example from a post about author Seth Godin. The images were scheduled to go to Twitter, Pinterest, Google Plus, and Facebook throughout the month, each time promoting the blog as well as the business theme. 

 

The goal for each image was viral shareability, rather than cohesive branding. Instead of making the images match a particular style, each image was fashioned to match the cover of a Seth Godin book. This way the image quotes would be immediately recognizeable by Seth Godin fans, and more likely to be shared. All of these were produced quickly on a strict budget.
