In the style of historical military paintings, Xbox produces a mural of the epic battle to take place in the Halo 4 game. With every pre-order registered, a photograph is submitted by the player and used as a basis for creating his/her likeness within the artwork, which is exhibited on a microsite.
As more ‘enlist’, the mural grows. Players are tagged in the painting, encouraging social media activity. The concept builds on the Halo 3 ‘Believe’ campaign, which introduced the ‘Museum of Humanity’, and used an immense diorama of actors to bring its story to life.
