I made this project for an extra credit activiti in my English class. This is a book cover digital illustration of the short story "The Little Match Girl" by Hans Christian Andersen.
I illustrated the little girl, who is the protagonist in this story, holding a match below her innocent face in middle of the cold dark night of New Year. I represented the firelight by using butterflies flying away, which symbolize innocence, vulnerability, soul and freedom; that is what I think this story is about.
