My love for all things typographic and an increasing interest in letterpress printing led me to taking on a complicated project to re-create an old wood block print I discovered.
The original woodblock print was very feint and damaged so I set about redrawing the whole thing to restore it to its former glory.

To help with the flowing lines and curves of the design I switched to a Wacom tablet for more control and a smoother finish. The final artwork was then transferred to a photopolymer plate ready to go on press (carving this thing out of wood was not really an option!). The Heidelberg press used gave me the desired embossed feel on the the final A3 print which was on 300gsm 100% cotton stock.
