The Free Press Embassy: Appendix
Selected development work from The Free Press Embassy project (Year 5)
The images below explore the development of the 'machine for free press' concept and the final architectural manifestation of that concept. Central to the development of the project was the investigation and establishment of a position on the issue of free press from which to advance an architectural manifestation: even if the position explicitly refrained from siding with or against the contended issues. Ultimately the architecture seeks to advance public consideration and enable informed debate on the issues surrounding press freedom and the continuing evolution of the media.

After initially considering the issues affecting a global free press (images 1 to 4) the focus of interest was refined to the role of media portrayal of news in and around the site of Jubilee Gardens (images 5 & 6) and developed notions of cyberbalkanization (images 7 & 8) and the collision of high and low technologies (image 9).
