Obnoxiously Orange
mock CD album booklet design
mock CD album booklet design
A class project which involved redesigning the album cover and CD booklet of a musician of our choice. I chose the indie rock band OK Go, famous for their quirky YouTube music videos. I took a very minimalist approach to the design because I really wanted the typography to shine through. I chose orange as the main colour because it was bold and slightly obnoxious, and contrasted with the title of the album, "Of the Blue Colour of the Sky," as well as the chilly melancholic feel of the songs within.
The cryptic orange bars on the left pages actually correspond to where the words of the title to each song are found in the lyrics on the right pages. This is not mentioned or explained in the booklet, to emulate the strange and inexplicable things the band does in some of their music videos and on stage.
This design is purely for academic and portfolio purposes. The band and music were simply used as inspiration for the design. I do not claim any rights to OK Go or their music, and this design will not be sold or used to make profit in any way.
