When we began working on the logo for AMY, we set out creating a youthful sporty brand that would speak the language of the superfast range of speed boats like the iconic Bladerunner. Something that was sea-blue, with speed lines, streamlined, slick.
After much thought, insight and reconsideration we changed course toward an identity that was refined, cultured, even regal and aspirational.
The finish would be that of gold metal and ebony-wood – given that yachts do have that shiny-metal-on-wood feel. The brand name AVA lent itself to perfectly symmetrical type-treatment. Further below you can see the construction. Sloop was used for the scripty 'yachts', and the timeless Gill Sans was used for the word 'marine'. A crest reminiscent of an eight-point compass crowned the logo.
