Inspired by a brush stroke painting of a sailboat at sunset by an unknown artist, this collection takes surfing culture and the world of wetsuits to a whole new level. I was inspired not only by the specific way wetsuits are constructed but what they stand for: extreme athleticism, extreme warmth, and extreme fit. With the ocean waves as my main draw for shape and style lines, I dropped the shoulders of each piece and added curvilinear seams. The fun outerwear pieces give a new and futuristic feel with functional appeal. The garments are made with fabrics of varying color and texture, incorporated with neoprene for shape, stretch, and water capabilities. Every seam of each garment is made as a wetsuit is constructed: glued and topstitched. Contrasting exposed zippers adorn the fronts and backs of these pieces. Each look is completed with a pair of handmade neoprene surf booties. This collection is bright, athletic, functional, and modern.
