Golf Club Sketching Templates

Idea:
Create a template to sketch a set of golf clubs including a Driver, Fairway wood, and Hybrid.

Purpose:
I sketch a lot of golf clubs for my work and I thought it would be a good idea to make a Template to help in their creation.

Inspired by:
The Quikicks set of shoe sketching templates I saw here on Behance.

Materials:
I didn't have access to create these templates out of metal, wood, or plastic, so I grabbed what I have available to me. I worked with a semi-thick piece of cardboard that wasn't too thick to cut but was compressed to allow for a smooth edge when cut.

I cut out each template after first creating the art in Illustrator and transferring the lines to the cardboard using a graphite tracing method.

I sized the templates to fit 3 across on a 7"x10" spiral sketch book.

This is my first test run of all three templates. I learned a bunch from this first test. The cardboard doesn't work well with my Prismacolor fine tip pens. The edge of the cardboard can get ink transferred onto it and then smudge when lifted or moved. I may try ball point pens later but for now I am using pencil to avoid the ink issues. I think after a few more drawings I will get the hang of what works and start creating some cleaner drawings.

UPDATE: I was able to locate a laser cutter company that was able to produce my prototypes in Acrylic. View the project update.
