A little while ago, I set out to create a few personal symbols of special meaning. I wanted to restrict them to just a few lines (without being overly minimal)—to be full of imagination, but quiet and restrained.
This is the result of that experiment. I hope you like them as much as I do.

The Quiet Giant
For each symbol, I started by sketching in mechanical pencil on notebook paper. Then I snapped a picture with my phone, and traced vector lines overtop the image. I polished each image until I achieved a certain smooth near-symmetry that made them feel active and interesting, and not overly digital.
