I created this 'Creative' typographic design for use on my personal social media. It's my cover photo on Facebook, my header photo on Twitter, and I also shared it in square-format on Instagram. I am really feeling gold and pink right now, and I also love pretty, sparkly things. The reason I chose the word 'creative' in my design is because it is a strong word I identify with. It's both a noun and adjective. I'm a creative and I love creative things. I also wanted to present it in a way that complemented my personality - my love for colour, my feminity and my style.
I used the typeface Pacifico for my design. It's a script designed by Vernon Adams in 2011, which also fits into categories brushed, brushed script, calligraphic, casual, display, handwritten and retro. I wanted all my letters to join together in a handwritten-cursive look, so this worked well. The font was also free for commercial use. Vernon Adams is an English type designer (as well as furniture restorer and woodcarver) that now lives in California. He has an MA in type design.
After a little kerning I outlined the text and used a clipping mask to add the glitter effect. For the background, I used a solid pale-pink rectangle with a stock image of pink satin over the top on a 50% Luminosity opacity blend. I also applied a Gaussian Blur to soften the detail of the fabric. The idea of the background was subtlety and softness.
