In 2013 my family found out that my mother's breast cancer had come out of remission. It was a very difficult time for all of us. I remember feeling extremely helpless, knowing there was nothing I could really do to help. All I could do was sit and wait to hear the next bit of news. In that year my mother had to have a single mastectomy and radiation treatments. Leading to a diagnosis that the cancer was gone and the healing and the long reconstruction process could begin. So I wanted to do something that could at least benefit other women and families that were dealing with or would deal with this situation. That was when I signed up to do the Avon Walk. I also had a friend join my team and I began creating a mascot for our team that we could use to promote what we were doing and encourage people to donate to our cause.
