AFO 9 (2008) - Swords of Orlandia 2

AFO 9 Logo
I designed this variation on the convention's brand logo to have an adventurous fantasy theme.
Swords of Orlandia 2 Logo
In order to promote the experience as a growing sub-brand for the convention, I created this logo, in the spirit of fantasy role-playing games that are popular with the anime and fan community. The background elements reflect the two factions that attendees were encouraged to join.
Convention Guide Cover
In order to convey the fantasy theme of the experience for that year, I designed the cover to look like a megical text, inspired by the covers of Dungeons & Dragons books designed by Henry Higginbotham.
Convention Badges
In designing the badges to be worn by attendees that year, we decided to use art of the convention mascots 'Sho' and "jo' that I did for AFO 5, as well as some new charcter art and elements.
Validus
This is promotional art of Prince Validus, a central character in Swords of Orlandia 2. It was used as a spot illustration to go along with chapters of backstory that we posted to the AFO website in the weeks leading up to the convention.
Dance Event Graphic
In addition to the visual creativity that I have done for AFO, I have also DJed for their Saturday night dance event. This is a promotional graphic that I created for use on the AFO website as well as Facebook.
Big Prize Check
As part of the costume contest that year at AFO, a cash prize was offered to the winner of "best of show" which the con chair wished to represent visually as a giant novelty check before the audience, so I design the check with elements from the year's experience.
Tavern Sign
A specific room in the convention space is designated as the "tavern" for the experience. I designed this poster which was used as signage outside of the room.
The Seer Room Sign
As part of a themed prize giveaway, a costumed character called "The Seer" was set up in a room made to look like a fortune teller's. Attendees who had pre-registered for the convention and booked a hotel room were given golden tickets. These attendees were invited to present the ticket to the seer. If the attendee pulled the right color stone from the seer's cauldron, a monster's hand (me wearing a costume gauntlet) would issue forth from a black curtain with mystical markings, holding a prize such as a DVD or t-shirt. This sign was displayed outside of that room.
The Seer's Golden Ticket
These were handed out to pre-registered convention attendees, with the chance of winning a prize. This design was printed on golden-colored paper.
Voucher
As a way of promoting the convention and experience, this voucher was offered to certain winners of events at other cons, entitling the bearer to a free pass to AFO.
