I did this design during for my Year 1 module, Digital Visual Design.
Here's what I typed for my Reflection report, how I conceptualise my idea and all. :)
"My mood board concept is a fusion of Music, Media and Instruments. Nowadays, there is a significant increase of people who seldom appreciate traditional music. From this concept, I’m portraying how traditional musical instruments can be merged with the Western. As quoted, “Music is the language that we all understand”.
My digital collage shows that there are no boundaries on how different music-related media and instruments can come together to create a creative fusion. It comprises of two parts: background and foreground. I have used vibrant colours and different effects to enhance the background to show the fusion of the different shapes. The light bulb shows that many ideas can be fused together to become a creative idea. The purpose of the volume button is to show that we can blast our ideas to whatever limit we want. There are no boundaries as to where the creativity in music will stop. I used vibrant colours for the background and vintage colours for the foreground (in the light bulb). The vintage effect of the images used in the light bulb gives off the classy feel. Likewise, the original colours of the image can bring the focus away and hence, I used the black-white tone so it will stand out.
To end off, Music has no boundaries if we are willing to accept the different tradition and genres."
Why I felt so strongly about traditional music is because back in Secondary School, I was from Chinese Orchestra. I joined this CCA under my elder sister's influence. I used to find the music too "chinese" but then throughout the whole 4 years, I began to love them. It feels really sensational when the whole orchestra come together as one. Even till now, when I listen to other orchestras, I will have goosebumps.
