Briana Lyon's profile

New Expressionism

These paintings are heavily influenced by the principles outlined in the classic Chinese text 'The Six Principles of Painting' by Xie He, in which the primary concerns are Qi (chi) or energy and Yun or rhythm. These artistic values are uniquely fused with the classic Western techniques of Expressionism and Impressionism to create these emotionally-charged, fluid paintings.

It is the artist's mission to depict inner realities through darkness and turbulence in  her art.And to delight in the non-commercial world. Through dramatic expressionist portraits and water-scapes believes she can help humanity view itself and the world with a deeper understanding of compassion and harmony.
