FOUND App Design Philly U Project

THIS IS A CLASS PROJECT AND NOT INVOLVED WITH THE ACTUAL CHADD FOUNDATION.
ORIGINAL PROTOTYPE MOCKUPS
FOUND is an app prototype created to help those with ADHD. The purpose of the app is to assist those who have ADHD with remembering their items, finding items that have been misplaced, and creating better focus through reminders, data and encouragement.
INITIAL RESEARCH
The student who came up with the FOUND app has ADHD and was my original source of information as I was preparing to design the app as well as later, when I designed the final prototype. Throughout our conversations and Q&A sessions, several design elements continued to surface.

Simplicity - a fancy layout can distract someone with ADHD.
Friendly - ADHD causes frustration quickly and often. A layout that is friendly helps calm the user.
Supportive - A gentle and kind voice will keep user from frustration and encourage them to use the app.
STYLE TILES
When designing the style tiles, I intially went from one extreme to the other, creating a bright, clean design and then swinging over to a dark, techie design. I then stepped back and thought carefully about the conversations from my intitial research. I, for some reason, thought about the Fisher Price Stacking rings toy. The design is simple, yet inviting. Children are instantly drawn to it and want to solve the rings puzzle which could be a challenging task, The colors are cheerful and fun. Even today, in my adulthood, I can look at the toy and recall the experience of having fun and feeling happy. I used this as inspiration to create the next two style styles which used variations of the basic colors found in the stacking rings and the bubbled treatment of the rings on the icons and typography.

The popular stacking ring toy provided inspiration
During the class review, the last style style with the slate background and rich palette of basic colors was the favorite choice. Christian however, who was the app inventor, found it to "stylized". This comment brought me back to the design board to create my final style tile that he approved of:
