The Daily Cheese Packaging

 
The student was required to develop the packaging for a basic cheese, which will be sold in major supermarkets in a slab form, in dairy section of refrigerators. The student may choose an existing pack format, or the student may propose their own new format. 
 
The packaging design should stand out in this area (dairy fridges) of supermarket, act as a silent saleman on shelf andclearly communicate the nutritional and other attributes of the cheese. It should create a positive consumption experience for the consumer, fit well into their home refrigerators and be easy to open and reseal. 
 
The brief required the designer to develop a packaging for a basic cheese or a daily cheese. The idea came across to simply name the brand The Daily Cheese and follow through on the name by creating a newspaper themed design for the cheese. A simple no nonsense approach concerning the design was taken. 
 
It was decided to design the wax paper covering to envelop the cheese, in a newspaper themed fashion. This is where the idea of The Daily Cheese falls into place. Everyday a new issue is created which contains, the country where each cheese originated, crossword puzzles, recipes, facts, tasting notes and nutritional information.
