Staging The Ukrainian Avant-garde Of The 1910s - 1920s

At this time of crisis and worry for Ukraine’s future, the Ukrainian Museum in New York City presents the exhibition, Staging the Ukrainian Avant-Garde of the 1910s and 1920s. Opening in February 2015 and running into the summer, the exhibition features one hundred and twenty-five works of Ukrainian avant-gardists, who were mapping a cultural future in the early 20th century. This celebration of early twentieth-century theater art is a visual feast and witness to the great talents issuing from Ukraine’s soil. The exhibition and its accompanying catalog thoroughly examine the specific Ukrainian contribution to European Modernism, in particular as it found its expression on the stage.
