Exhibition concept for Enschede library

This was a group project for Enschede library to create an exhibition concept about Enschede during the Second World War.
The theme “other sight” means foreigners, we see the history of WWII in Enschede with a different point of view since we are foreigners in this case.  We also want to show people in Enschede a different sight to see their life, compared to the life during WW. The effect of blue and red for this logo represent the main technique that we used in this exhibition, which is 3D images.
Nowadays, people are living a comfortable life, but they don’t cherish it. That is why we chose the bombardment tragedy in Enschede during the Second World War. Engage to the life people used to live back then, we realise how uncomfortable and scary the life was, especially through the bombardment tragedy. We would like to offer the feelings that we have to visitors, hoping that they will appreciate more of the life they currently have.
We created 3 different perspectives for the exhibition and we intended to put them on different areas in the library. Each visitors will get a questionnaire with 10 questions when they come to the exhibition, they need to find out the answers from the related pictures and books in these 3 perspectives. Visitors will be rewarded with a post card when they finished the trip if they answer all questions correctly.
CIVILIAN PERSPECTIVE
It shows how hard the life was for people, they could do nothing but see their home got destroyed by the bomb during the war.
JEWISH PERSPECTIVE
This perspective will let visitors know the feeling of jewish people. They used to lived in fear and always hide whenever they hear the sound of the knocking door. They didn't have the chance of living in freedom and have the rights to choose their own path like we do today.
ALLIED SOLDIERS
Here, we offer the perspective from the allied soldier. Imagine if they didn't bomb Enschede by mistake, would people still suffer the pain of losing their home?
We use the 3D images because we want to offer visitors a real experience of the fear during the war. With the related stories and 3D images, we hope the visitors will understand how cruel the war was and how hardwon is the life we have now.
