FUSE IZAKAYA

FUSE is an izakaya bar/restaurant implementing the aesthetics of Neo Tokyo, a futuristic concept of Japan commonly found in fictionalized works.

FUSE draws upon the idea of ~fusing~ the traditional atmosphere of izakayas with an exaggeration on the technological presence in everyday society. Influenced by Ikko Tanaka’s use of bold colours and geometric simplification, sans-serif typefaces and heavily stylized vectors are utilized to place a contemporary twist on the cultural experience of izakaya dining. FUSE’s visual brand incorporates heavily minimalized objects disassembled and portrayed as graphic skeletons.

This blueprint aesthetic, reminiscent of hyperfuturistic user interface capabilities, is a callback to technology found in comics such as Iron Man and mecha-anime such as Neon Genesis Evangelion. This provides a nostalgia factor to the restaurant and establishes a connection between the customer and the brand.
