It was that time of the year again, when one tries to come up with another way to make a showreel not look like a mindless video potpourri.
Until, I realized, that the whole idea of a showreel is somehow flawed. Unless it's a Mill showreel, or Emmanuel Lubezki cut, it's very hard to catch what is it exactly you're suppose to understand from a series of fast cut scenes from unrelated projects.
What is it, that the creator is proud of, how did he overcome the circumstances, what makes him a good director or cinematographer?
