Tessellation from Illustrator

I used illustrator for the first time when creating this project. I used the elliptical tool to make two “planets” along with the polygon tool to make a series of hexagons that created the overlapping pattern that was blending/colliding in the foreground of the design. The colors for the planets were not arbitrary but very deliberate: a world of only water and a world of only land. I went a little further with it all by adding in the brush strokes in red and white to include the expression of encroaching doom the planets should be ready for.

My inspiration came from one of my favorite episodes of Seinfeld, the one where George complained his worlds’ were colliding. Those words spurred and idea that I had to go forth with. I will admit, the hexagon pattern came from a separate idea and I polled opinions for the colors, but the designs are truly mine. Some parts might be a little harsh to look at but I can always go back and create another later with more time and knowledge of the program.
