Kintsukuroi

Kintsukuroi is the Japanese art of repairing a piece of broken object with gold. The breakage
of the object is enhanced and considered part of it's history rather than covered up.

These illustrations bring the process of my journey from a tattoo artist to
a graphic designer. The breaking becoming a part of the journey.

About me:
I was born in the year of a tiger. In 2007 I started gave up a veterinary course to begin
a tattoo apprenticeship, hoping it would be an opening for a career in the arts. A couple
of years later I got the opportunity to pursue studies in graphic design, which led to a
career in graphic design and illustration as soon as I graduated.
Kintsukuroi (The beginning)
Before the journey began, was the preparation. The rough lines are etched, with not much else.
But don't despise small beginnings, great things often start small.
(I)The Vessel
The structure of a being, without the outward manifestation or heartbeat of the individual.
We start out small and seemingly empty, but the breaking in the journey has a way
of building muscle, filling us up with the substance of individuality and purpose.
(II)The Breaking
The breaking of old beliefs never ends, in their place comes newer truths and revelations.

(III) The Mend
Though the breaking never stops, wholeness comes as the journey goes on. We never
truly become completely perfect, but we sure become a better version of ourselvesas time goes on.
