The idea of this project was to construct a piece of jewelry that is a large sculptural piece with a very lightweight. Almost instantly, the presence of leaves, due to the fall weather, was the basis of my concept. Color scheme wise, during the fall season going into winter most of the fibers worn were dark colors, usually blue or purple. The medium of yarn is very light which successfully went along with this project. The use of brass sheet metal as well as brass tubing was a high gauge, which also was light when placed on the body. On the left side of the necklace is etched tubing that represents the stacking of leaves that build up during the fall season. The black tubing underneath is a representation that winter is coming. The projection of the brass leaves, which is the main focus of the piece, was created to show the falling of the leaves. Black resin was also painted on the projecting leaves to show that the leaves will soon wither away when the weather turns colder.
