Project Collage: Song Visualizations

After completing “The Genealogy of Electronic Dance Music” this project was inspired by my yearning to have more opportunities to incorporate my passion for electronic music into my work. I thought what better way to reach an opportunity than to create one. I was driven by my love for working with my hands and my interest in photo collage experiments. Each collages’ goal was to simply experiment with integrating image and type to create dynamic compositions which reflected the song’s personality. Some pieces play off emotions, some narratives, and others physical experiences. Each piece is based off a selected song and is created in Photoshop with imagery and type found in both digital databases and print. I’m currently working on transitioning between sole experimentation towards more emotionally and narrative driven concepts. View them at: http://sightzandsoundz.tumblr.com
Loosely inspired by Bondax’s “Baby I Got That”. I challenged myself by using only images found in magazines, cutting, pasting and juxtaposing them by all by hand. I think it exudes those posh/beachy/dreamy vibes Bondax’s music usually creates.
A fully digital piece visualizing Girl Unit’s synthy, futuristic and 80’s electro vibes in “Ensemble”.
As requested by my lovely friend Heather, she asked me to create a collage using a her photo. I was just sort of fooling around with this one playing with imagery and photoshop filters but created something quite aesthetically pleasant. It was meant to play off the vibes of Darius' "Espoir".
Capturing Jessy Lanza's rainy day vibes in "Strange Emotion".
Experimenting with some magazine cutouts of models from an old 1970’s crochet magazine. This one particularly vibes with Friendly Fire’s and Flight Facilities’ “I Crave Paris”

Just playng around with cutouts from a 70's children's activity book to Kero Kero Bonito's whimsical vibes in "Flamingo".
Apologies if it's not Friday. Another music collage, inspired by Shadow Child’s sublime dance track, “Friday” Ft. TAKURA.
This song won’t fail to get you in a damn groovy mood.
Inspired by Ambassadeurs’ “Second Thought”, I suggest you listen to this one with some sweet headphones on, maybe you’ll see what I envisioned.
Working off the sensual vibes of Ruddyp’s bootleg of BANKS’ “Waiting Game”.
Thanks to my buddy Del Vecchio for this song selection. This one's to Moon Boots' "No One", visualizing its synthy and dreamy beach vibes through juxtaposing selected imagery cut from old fashion magazines.
