I was challenged with the task of creating a hybrid font which combined the unique characteristics of three completely different fonts. These fonts were studied, analyzed, deconstructed and critiqued to determine which elements were to be incorporated into the hybrid. The three fonts chosen were ZnikomatNo24, a courier like font with organic qualities, Park Lane, an Art Deco inspired slab serif and Vertige a more dingbat like font with an abstracted script look, Vertige plays with more than just form but also pattern.
The final hybrid design incorporates unique elements from each font to create an overall design that is whimsically reminiscent of earlier time periods, hence the chosen phrase, “Just Like The Old Days”.
Elements from each of these fonts were combined in various ways to create the hybrid verson.
