Sentinel
a collaborative re-use project in Denver, Colorado

On the site of the abandoned Stapleton International Airport, we are adapting the air traffic control tower into a high-tech manufacturing facility for UAV's that monitor Denver's changing climactic conditions, and an educational facility that teaches students about weather, climate, and how to manufacture and operate the UAVs. The structure of the building is to remain in tact. The facade is being removed, but reused on the site as path elements. The old control tower building is being sliced in half to create a corridor running north to south to allow for prevailing winds to cross ventilate the space more easily. Many of the building elements are kinetic, and able to be adapted to fit the users needs.
