The Wes Anderson Collection

This is for a D&AD competition brief for Monotype. The brief was to choose a director and then pick 3 of there films to promote in a retrospective screening. The main aspect was to create a poster that is mainly focused on typography and then have a digital element and then another touch point.

I have chosen Wes Anderson as my director and for the films I chose, Fantastic Mr Fox, Moonrise Kingdom and The Grand Budapest Hotel. I focused on a target audience who have already seen the films and are film fans. I am promoting to them to relive the worlds created by Wes that they know and love. I wanted to bring in things that Wes uses in his films such as good use of bright colours and patterns. I also wanted to use his use of panning that is a trademark of his in filming.

I chose to focus on bringing out the story using text that resembles the characters and who/what they are. I then added meaningful visual elements from each film to embed the story into the typography. I then animated these typographic letters for my digital element. I also made a newspaper that would be given away at the screening as a memento to take away with interesting contents about each film.
