I know this painting will make no sense to anyone but myself. The idea originates from a childhood trauma. When I first started school in North Carolina, I was the only Italian boy there. I was an androgynous pretty boy with lots of curly hair. I suddenly found myself in a hostile environment. The other boys at school would yell, "You are a girl. You have curls. You have lace around your panties!" Then they would gang up on me and beat me. This is how my youth started. I am painting this portrait of me as a young man putting on my jeans and work boots and proudly wearing lace panties. This is my reply to this hateful world. This is my way of giving the finger to all the creeps who made my life a living hell. I am what I am and I have a right to be, lace panties and all. KISS MY LACE PANTIES! If any of you have ever been subjected to blind hatred or abuse, if you have ever been told you are not good enough, not pretty enough, not masculine enough, not smart enough, and you get to the point where you will not take it anymore, just look the scoundrels in the eye and tell them to kiss Ron's lace panties!
