For this project, students were tasked to select a handheld appliance or tool, and thoughtfully redesign it.

In redesigning the cheese grater, I wanted to remedy the dangerously exposed grating, create stability during use, and allow for easy cleaning. To do this, I abandoned the upright sheet of folded metal, and adopted a cylindrical form. This allows the cheese to be grated with an easy turning motion, rather than frantic grinding.
