Retail Branding

Welcome to Wonderland...

This introductory excercise was a fast turn around project as part of my CAD design module. In the first tutorial we were taught the basic tools of Adobe Photoshop and how to work with layers, including how to use transparancy settings to create artistic effect.

We were instructed to choose a retail store in Manchester, collecter first (or secondary) images and compile into a 'montage' to create a piece of branding for the store, using the techniques we had been taught in the previous class.

I chose the department store, Harvey Nichols. When I visited the store for research, I found the Christmas visual merchandising very inspiring. I used images of objects from the window displays to produce my artwork, choosing to create a small postcard which could be used for promotional perposes by the store along side their Christmas marketing campaigns.

The magical and icy influences lead me to the phase 'Welcome to Wonderland', a message which fit perfectly with the christmasy influences found inside the store.
