My EYE
Silk-screen print
I had some sketches in line for production, and I knew that for a few of them I wanted to create a handmande positive for silk-screen printing, as to get that unique uneaven edge feel that only a brush and ink can get you.
This design was inspired by several things, the most obvious are my love of animated series and a tattoo that one of my exgirlfriends has.
The positive was made by hand in waterproof wax-paper using ink , a dipper pen and a brush for the broad parts of the design.
The irregular edges that you can get with hand drawn ink are increadibly difficult to replicate digitally.
A calligraphic adornment I added to the top of the design. Sadly it got a smudge in some part of the process of filling in the voids.
After the positive was finished, I decided to print it on some matte silver ink I loved as it had a satin finished, almost like brushed metal.
As you can see the details transfered quite well, and the edges were kept which gave me the look I was looking for.
I also found out that some smudges wont transfer, as they are not completely black so in the end the "A.L." was not harmed.
