What We See is Not What Is Shown is a weekly photography project I'm working on, where I use light as the prime medium.
Week One&Two: Transparency: Using transparent materials llike Vinyl sheets, tonic water bottles and blocks of glass, I was able to capture the differences a medium makes of light. Additionally, translucent ribbons were used to see how semi-transparent materials could affect light
Week Three & Four: Reflection: I worked with multiple mirrors to engage on how light behaves on the mirror medium. Mirrors are not exactly a sheet of reflective panel, rather, it is a coating of reflective material under a layer of glass, and to view at it sideways create subtle multiples of the image. Also, the focus is taken as same for the object viewed directly as for the object looked through a mirror. Such being, having a mirror create clear contrast in focus that is worth observation
Week 6: Light bulbs and fluorecent lighting. I worked with direct lights, such as light bulbs and warning lights on emergency cabinets. It was interesting to see how different camera settings had to be applied to capture different kinds of lights in their best shades. Simple bulbs could not be posed directly, while LEDs had great differences in the amount of light input depending on the angle of the camera. Diode lights also differed greatly by angle, yet their amount was significantly less, and extra settings had to be applied in post-production.
