Hack Circus is a creative collective on the science/art/philosophy axis, dedicated to crafting delightful, ideas-led physical effects and experiences. Amongst other endeavours, they produce a quarterly magazine based on a different theme each time.
Issue one of the quarterly magazine was designed by The Beautiful Meme and published in December 2013. The cover features a litho printed optical illlusion within which the words 'Hack Circus' are hidden.
We were approached to redesign the magazine from the second issue. Keeping the cover design the same, we changed the colour gradient so that each subsequent issue continued the spectrum from red through to purple. The inside was completely redesigned, with a new grid system, typographic identity and visual hierarchy.
Issues two and three can be seen here.
