An Architectural Interpretation of The Idea of North by Glenn Gould
In Glenn Gould’s The Idea of North, there are three voices talking about their different experiences in northern Canada. Although the contents are irrelevant to each other, the clip mixed them into one piece and creates a combination of solitude. Inspired by the music piece, the module of the space was a cuboid made up by five surfaces which contains different arrangement of stripes combined with one reflective surface which represents the coldness of the northern Canda. The main idea of the space design was to create a visual effect of three irrelevant elements interacting with each other in a space.
The program is a conference room of a music firm, which was used to hold meetings with clients. The space contains a waiting area and the formal conference area.
