The Chicago Bears

In mid-January, the Chicago Bears announced that it would bring on Adam Gase, formerly of the Denver Broncos, as the team’s new offensive coordinator. Gase, who signed a three-year contract, was actively pursued by a number of other teams, including St. Louis and San Francisco.

With Gase as its offensive coordinator, the Broncos led the NFL in passing offense, total offense, and scoring offense. The Broncos broke an NFL scoring record in 2013 and finished second in the league in scoring last year. Gase has also enjoyed an impressive track record with the Detroit Lions and the San Francisco 49ers.

John Fox, the head coach of the Bears, and Gase seem to have very different styles and opinions when it comes to offense. Fox tends toward traditional ground attacks with impact plays mixed in, while Gase has a more cutting-edge approach and emphasizes the importance of passing. Hopefully, the two will use their differing approaches to bolster the team rather than let those approaches become a point of contention.
