Last spring, I kept a sketchbook of observational drawings while commuting between work in Chicago and helping my dad sort through the belongings left behind by my grandmother in St. Louis. I made the commute by train and worked up to sketching the distant farms and silos which make up this pattern.

To keep with the endless feel of the original Illinois landscapes, I compiled the drawings as a continuous striped toile, rather than the spaced and isolated scenes of a traditional toile pattern. This design is available to purchase through Society6, Spoonflower and Print All Over Me.
