The Miniature, the Gigantic
MFA Thesis Book
MFA Thesis Book
One of my loves in life is miniature model building. To be able to meld that with work and let my interests generate the work was a dream. The question that my CCA MFA thesis attempts to address is "How can the methodologies found in miniature model making be used as metaphors to generate graphics for design?" I used form studies and simple tools such as paper, knives and scissors to begin the process. How can slow design and experimentation be beneficial to the outcome of the final design project? And how we've lost that over the years to speed and the computer. This book features the entire thesis writing component which delves in and out of fantasy designed in conjunction with in-process photos and the physical artwork produced during the thesis making aspect of the project itself.
So can my hobby generate work? Of course.
