Moji - a conceptual design for Fluevog's Tokyo shoe family. Moji was designed to provide a more softer touch to the classic bold flare of the Tokyo line. The concept was first drawn in illustrator from paper sketch, and then rendered in Photoshop.
Belle Gunness - a conceptual design for Fluevog's Bellevues shoe family. Belle Gunness is named after a Norwegian serial killer who lived from 1859 to 1908. She was a very tall, and strong woman who killed most of her suitors. With the vaudevillian feel of the Bellevue line and Belle Gunness - the serial killer coming from an era that is tied to the aesthetic - it made perfect sense. I chose the colors black and red to imitate the black widow (Belle Gunness being a widower/serial killer). The skirting of the uppers over the back heel is meant to attract suitors/victims with it's mysterious appeal.
Showdown - a conceptual design for Fluevog. I created the design with a boxed toe cap to experiment with the aesthetic of creating something bold and daring. I definitely had old spaghetti westerns in mind when I came up with the name. Fluevog is best known for some of it's most clunky, quirky, boldly colored shoe designs. So following that appeal I attempted to design a concept that would be all those things, but still new and different for Fluevog. Uppers would be made of waxed canvas with a leather heel patch, the front would fold in when closed and fastened with snaps, and the metal toe cap would have a brushed stainless steel finish.
