Olympic Games webpage redesign

The above redesign was part of a Summer Internship 2015 application for Orange Digital. Orange Digital is a  design studio team that specialises in web design, web / app development and search engine optimisation; they are based within Fortitude Valley, Queensland, Australia. This challenge required by Orange Digital was the most interesting, challenging and fun application that I've undertaken in a long time!

The two images above are part of redesign of the Olympic Games official website, http://olympic.org. As you can see if you clink on the link, it's quite a cluttered website. My main goal was to reduce the amount of information bombarding the user when they arrive onto the homepage, and reinforce the visual identity of the Olympic Games in a bold, clean manner.

The second image was created as an example of what occurs when a user hovers over one of the Olympic rings; each ring takes the user to a specific sub-page present on the original webpage (i.e. the blue ring takes the user to check the latest Olympic Games news, the green ring takes you to photos and videos of Olympic events etc.). When a user hovers over the ring, an image and text appear.

On the sub-page, I made the social media links bolder and bigger. Half the fun of the Olympic games is connecting with others around the world while watching, so I'm not sure why the social media links on the original webpage were so tiny and sometimes hard to find? Some of them were on separate sub-pages!
