Kushali - Oil on Canvas, 36" x 72"
Kushali is a village elder I met in Northern India. Her desert village was situated at the base of a mountain, and consisted of roughly a dozen huts, each housing a different family. I was grateful to be brought into her family for a time, and became fascinated by her. Although hardened by her experiences, there was a quiet strength about her, and when she stared at me with her proud and powerful gaze I couldn’t look away.
