My first artwork this year! Yeah!

This my friends is the Jarong.
Below it hide 2 of the Reindeer People, the indigenous wanderers of the tundras of Infinite Plains on the Planet Qehar.
Painted in Photoshop with a Wacom tablet, using 2 oil brushes.

This is the full painting. It's 70 x 50 cm in 300 pdi, or approximately 8000 x 6000 pixels.
I picture the Jarongs to be huge, majestic herd animals roaming the snowy tundras. Like so many animals in this world its face looks a bit like a painted mask, familiar but not quite human.
The protagonists of all my stories from Infinite Plains, the Reindeer people. I took great care to get the anatomy right, even though I would have liked to take more reference photos to be sure about the lighting.
I also added som strange fossil plants that I have been sketching but have never put in a painting before. The idea is for them to look like huge pink coral lichen.

Okay, so this was my workflow for this painting.
I started with a simple montage that I painted over to establish the basic idea.
I then went on to map in the basic color scheme and establish the relative sizes and poses of the main picture elements.
Then I spent quite some time establishing the lighting.
After that it was just a question of adding details. And voilà! There you go. The finished painting!
