Rice, Feng Shui (the art of placement), and bestowment have played important roles in Taiwan cultural society. We would like to develop new bestowing ways to connect these three elements while suit in modern city life.
The basic concept of this rice packaging is to be playful and calling good fortune for the purpose of Feng Shui. In Feng Shui, four cardinal directions have their symbolic animals: Azure Dragon of the East, Vermilion Bird of the South, White Tiger of the West, and Black Turtle of the North. Thus, this rice packaging series consist of four boxes. The box colors are based on four symbols ' color. The symbol figure is printed on the wrapping craft paper and placed in the drawer box. The customer can see the symbols moving when the drawer boxes are pulled out. To achieve this effect, we used the barrier grid animation technique to create an optical illusion.
Traditionally, the four symbols usually are carved inside the residential house. But nowadays, this idea is difficult to realize in a modern city. This rice package offers an alternative to express the idea of Feng Shui.
