Lena and the Multiple Sclerosis Dragon

Lena and the Multiple Sclerosis Dragon
Background story: My mother's got a friend with multiple sclerosis. One day this friend came up to me and asked if I wanted to illustrate a story she wrote for a children's book about this illness. I happily accepted, even though the book wasn't intended to be published, at least not in the beginning of my work. The author decided to send the book to several publishers last month, where it's currently being reviewed.

Here is an excerpt from these children's book illustrations.

The story is about Lena, a bright kid, who gets multiple sclerosis. It takes the form of a dragon, who is first little and quiet. As he gets more bigger and lays stones in her way, she gets frightend. In the end, her family, friends and her belief - that everything that happens has a purpose - help her to cope with her illness and to live with this dragon.

It was my first children's book and my first story I illustrated which wasn't created by me or someone I closely know. Which made it a precious experience about working with someone who has little knowledge about art, design and layouting. On the bright side, I had a lot of room for my own ideas and happily for me, the author was very enthusiastic about them.
Lena, frightend by the dragon.

Text was blurred by the author's request.
Four symptoms of multiple sclerosis:
Tiredness, forgetfulness, impaired vision and bladder weakness.
Lena recognizes that everything in the world has a purpose and she's just a little cog in the whole.
