SKINESICS : THE EXPLORATION OF MULBERRY TREE USING INDIGO AND SAPPANWOOD DYES WITH FELTING AND WET PAPER TECHNIQUES
 
Skin: any integumentary covering, casing, outer coating, or surface layer,as an investing membrane.
Kinesics: The study of body movement, gesture, as a means of communication.
 
 
In the old days, before the human being found out the yarn and weaving process, they made cloth using animal fur, but in the tropical island people keep searching for another material that suits their weather and activities. Then they found that the outer bark from the family of Mulberry tree can be used for making textile. Through their flexibility, the ancestor called the barkcloth as the "second skin"

In Indonesia there are many places that having barkscloth as their artefacts, like Lampung, Nias, Sulawesi, and Papua. Lore Lindu National Park, Central Sulawesi is one of the places in Indonesia that still having the craftsman who making the barkcloth for special occasion and souvenirs. Nowadays, the barkcloth is not quite popular in Indonesia, whereaswe have a lot of resources to make it.

Through that condition, I want to make a special barkcloth for this modern era. The barkcloth that using a vibrant color, with holographic surface and contemporary motives in 60's retro modern silhouettes that I really adore.
