Regeneration explores the experience of British army officers being treated for shell shock during World War I at a hospital. It encompasses themes of the harsh realities of war, struggles with anti-war ideology, tension between traditional models of masculinity and what the men actual are, and various types of trauma.
In my design, the red slashing lines cut through the eyes and then the mouth of the head profiles to show that they are unable to see reality and unable to voice their opinons. In the bottom head profile, there is a grenade as the man's brain to show the internal struggle. The pin on the grenade is red to continue the trend with the red lines above, and also to show that their brains could explode any minute. The "RE" on "regeneration" is in upper case and bolded to exaggerate the idea and struggle of the doctor at the hospital, who feels that he is only curing the men to be sent back into the war to have the same problems all over again.
