// Tokimonsta logo animations & tour visuals
Last September, Teaching Machine approached us to create visual content for LA-based producer & DJ, Tokimonsta's "Desiderium" A/V tour.
The visual loops had to be bold, high contrast, and able to be layered. We used a combination of Cinema4D, Blender, and After Effects to create our content. Sometimes remixing loops into other videos, with aims to create a sense of familiarity and flow throughout the show. Each song had between 1-3 minutes of dedicated 3D rendered content, selected and mixed in real-time using Resolume, an AKAI APC40 midi controller, and back-projected using a dual Ben-Q projector setup.
For the tour, Teaching Machine's Strangeloop designed a 2 box setup to mirror and project through. Each box contained 3 rows of white scrim sheets, 9fx12ft in size The rows were spaced 2ft apart so that the projections created a layered, holographic effect behind Toki. The amount of panels we projected through varied per show due to stage size restrictions for certain venues. Some nights the setup was 24ft wide and 3 screens deep, others we improvised on-the-fly to create a smaller, custom solutions. Making each night unique to the city we played in.
