The Idea:
The idea of this exhibition piece was surrounding visitors in Singapore. It is a fact that these visitors, arrived in our little island and were fundamental in bringing Singapore to where we are today. They are the Building Blocks of Singapore On the table lies a bunch of wooden blocks, each with a name and a country on them. These are just a few of the building blocks of our nation. Without these foreign workers, the skyscrapers we work in, the stadiums where we exercise, and the huge malls where we shop would have never been what they are today. It’s time we showed our appreciation to these workers who have spent years away from their families just to raise some income as visitors in Singapore. The blocks were prepared and sanded to create a smooth finish. Designs were prepared on Illustrator and sent to the Laser Cutter for engraving.
